What an amazing experience this was to be in El Salvador to have a Hispanic Pope… we watched in great anticipation as we heard the news “Habemus Papam…” a lot of firsts… the first Jesuit Pope, the first from South America – also making him the first non-European Pope – is a significant move for the Church, taking the Papacy to a continent in which 42 per cent of the world’s Catholics live! Also the first to choose the name “Francisco” So we have Francis the First. Maybe the name signifies, like Saint Francis, he will have a great love and devotion to the poor.
It was a true joy to be here in El Salvador especially with Sr. Rose!!!!!
