“This is My Body.”

(Dedicated to my mother for giving me life and giving me belief in the Real Presence of the Eucharist)

“This is my body.” These four words are used by Jesus to help us believe in his real presence in the Eucharist. Some people do not believe that the bread and wine really become his body and blood. Do you?

These same four words, “This is my body,” are used to promote abortion. Some people do not believe that a child in the womb is really life. Do you?

When we fail to believe in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist we will fail to see the presence of him in every human being.

The Eucharist is at the core of our faith… it is the Source and the Summit of everything we believe. This is my Body.God is present here, not just in sign or symbol, but in reality. If we miss this, we miss so much.If we don’t understand what is happening here, we misunderstand the center of our faith.

The following video displays what happens when we get Christ’s words wrong.

When the priest speaks these words in the person of Christ: “This is my body, which will be given up for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” The words bring about what they say. The Bread and Wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus.

In a few moments Jesus will offer himself to us.The gifts of bread and wine will become in reality his Body and Blood. As you receive him your body and blood becomes one with his.Your body becomes the Body of Christ.

Does this have any influence on how you live your life?Do you realize that it is no longer about you, but him living in you? Will you, like him, give your life up so that other’s may live?

“This is my Body.”I can choose to use it selfishly or I can use it as it is intended, to be given so that others may live more fully.

When you hear “This is my body” do you truly believe that it is the Body of Christ?
